There was a bit of shuffling in the top 5 since the previous rankings. Denison University was dropped from the rankings for not making the 4 regatta cut-off and University of Michigan appears at the top for the first time this year. This movement by Michigan is undoubtedly due to their strong performance in the Timme-Angston and the Timme Tune-up. Other big movers this cycle were Western Michigan (up 4), Purdue (up 3), Michigan State (up 2) and Ohio State (down 4). Although 3 schools (Denison, University of Akron, and Northern Michigan) left the rankings this cycle, only (Denison), could have influenced the above moves.
The latest Sailing World coaches poll (Nov. 21) did not include any MCSA team in the rankings. Although the rankings above are not affiliated or endorsed by the ICSA/MCSA, SailMichigan provides these rankings to generate interest in Midwest collegiate sailing and to serve as a starting point for discussion. If you have any suggestions or comments, please feel free to contribute them below or on the SailMichigan forum.
